Das ist sicher eine der most frequently asked questions, … und eine eindeutige Antwort darauf wird es nicht geben. Eine ordentliche Portion CLIL, ehrlich gemeint, entsprechend den Strategien und Zielen von CLIL, das sollte drinstecken.
Im CLIL-Leitfaden für HTLs, und ähnlich formuliert auch in den Handreichungen für andere Schultypen, heißt es dazu:
Heißt CLIL, dass der Unterricht zu 100% in englischer Sprache erfolgen muss?
Nein. Die als CLIL-Einheiten dokumentierten Sequenzen sollen jedoch in überwiegendem Ausmaß auf Englisch erfolgen. (CLIL-Leitfaden für die Umsetzung an HTLs, Oktober 2020, S. 14.)
Oder anders gefragt: How much CLIL is enough?
Well, you know, we commonly distinguish between soft CLIL and hard CLIL, sometimes we even talk about fake CLIL though. What do I mean by fake CLIL? Well, popping into the classroom, saying, “Good morning, we´ve got to do bits of CLIL again, you know.” … and going on in German for most of the lesson then. This is what I´d call fake CLIL. As I´ve said above, keep the strategies and goals in mind and you can forget about the stopwatch. 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes … that´s not the real question. What are we doing it for, and how? This is what counts, and your students will love it. Most of the time, at least 😉
