Yes. A colleague of mine who is in charge of CLIL at the University College of Teacher Education in Vienna has opened up a moodle platform which is constantly expanding. You´ll find sample materials there as well as the opportunity to join a network of colleagues teaching the same subjects, e.g. chemistry teachers at technical colleges or teachers of commercial subjects.

Well, as Austrian CLIL teachers we assess content, we must not assess language. This is definitely none of our business. Giving language support and feedback might be seen as an extra service to our students though.

Patrick de Boer, an enthusiastic maths and CLIL teacher from the Netherlands, says, “This is probably the question generating the most ‘buzz’. I have had quite a few interesting discussions on this topic, as teachers tend to think differently on this topic. Which is fine. As long as everyone does the same. It would be unfair if one teacher corrects language mistakes in a history test and reflects these mistakes in a grade, when another history teacher does not. “This is a crucial question. I think at the moment there is no job description for this coordinator’s role. I think there should be. At the moment, the truth is probably that each school does this differently, and I think it would be a good idea to standardize the job across schools so that expectations are common. For me, the coordinator should be about supporting the teachers in their work, finding resources, organizing observation of teaching with feedback, finding out about courses, identifying opportunities for sharing materials, meeting with similar subject teachers from other schools, setting up a CLIL resources section in the school, perhaps in the library. CLIL teachers adopt and adapt existing resources to make them accessible to their learners. For example, graphic organizers and other clear visuals for information processing and recording are utilized to make additional language processing easier for learners. CLIL ist in den neuen Lehrplänen (der land- und forstwirtschaftlichen Schulen) ab dem Schuljahr 2018/19 verpflichtend und wird als fremdsprachlicher Schwerpunkt mit mindestens 36 Unterrichtsstunden ab dem III. Following the curriculum of 2016, it’s moving into agricultural colleges. /…/ Following along this path into the future, it does feel as though more younger teachers will come through the system more able to work in English, and offer more of the curriculum through English. Erfahrungsgemäß werden englischsprachige Unterrichtseinheiten in der 5. bis 8. Schulstufe im Fachunterricht bereits eingesetzt. Aus diesem Grund und um die lehrplangemäße Umsetzung ab dem III.  Sure, start whenever you´d like to. History, Geography, Sports etc. are perfect for students to get used to CLIL. Create risk-free zones and have them experience something different, and they won´t be puzzled that much when regular CLIL will finally be introduced in year 3.

Make sure to follow the regulations set in your province/state re. the use of English as a working language and/or CLIL.
